I feel Nora and Helmer have a few struggles in their marriage, which most do. Helmer has a thing for calling his wife pet names like a squirrel or a bird which is frivolous. In my opinion I feel as if Helmer doesn't really respect his wife and he thinks she feels special or loved by the stupid pet names he calls her. Helmer is not all to blame for the soon downhill marriage, Nora is very secretive and a liar.In Nora's situation of amortization to Krogstad all of her past is now coming to light.
Nora's stress and guilt is building up from this quote from Krogstad" The curious thing is that your father signed this note of hand three days after his death"(pg174), which starts with why Nora is having to pay back debt. Then being told this quote by Helmer " A man can redeem his character if he freely confess his guilt and takes his punishment" (pg179) another quote from Helmer is "...people who steal are untrustworthy and corrupt children"(pg179). With all of this being said I think and believe Nora is going to be in advancement trying to figure out what she can do to protect her kids, come out to Helmer, and pay her debts.
In Nora's situation I would come clean about all the lies I've told my husband and hope he forgives me. Nora is already feeling vehemently from all the stuff she did in the past that's coming back now. So the best thing I think she should do is just be honest. What would you do in a situation like Nora's? If you told the truth to Helmer about all the lies you told how do you think he would react?
I think Nora should tell Helmer the truth bro. it's the right thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI would tell if I was in Nora's situation and deal with the consequences later. I feel like helmer will understand because she did it for him. He shouldn't be so upset, she could've left him ill and he would've die after. I feel like helmer would think of women differently after because she was getting money like him too.

ReplyDeleteIf I was in Nora's situation, I would tell Helmer the truth because that way, Krogstad will have nothing left to blackmail Nora with. There is still a slight chance that Helmer will help Nora deal with Krogstad and stay with her even though he will be upset. If all else fails, I'm sure she can go to Dr. Rank's house and he will help her since they are great friends.

ReplyDeleteNora should just be honest I agree. she could of saved all the trouble and just be out with it. As she waits the problem gets worse. She is slowly making her life terrible by waiting and adding more lies.
ReplyDeleteIf I was Nora I would come clean and tell Helmer she borrowed money from Krogstad and if she did that Krogstad would eventually get fired from the bank and he wont be able to have any "Dirt" on Nora anymore.
